USP Hospitals has launched the USP MasterCard, the first credit card in the world that provides access to the holders' most important medical data and information.
This initiative came about through the collaboration of CAMGE, the financial institution resulting from the strategic alliance between General Electric (GE) and Caja Mediterráneo that specializes in granting consumer loans and issuing credit cards.
In addition to electronic banking services, each patient can access medical information on the Internet, viewing diagnostic test results, discharge reports, emergency care reports, laboratory reports, access to the consultation schedule and establishing alerts, among others.
This highly confidential information can be consulted through a sophisticated mechanism that has been approved by the Spanish Information Protection Agency based on banking and healthcare security platforms developed by CAMGE and USP Hospitals, from any part of the world using a password and Internet access, making it useful for any Spanish or international hospital.
USP Hospitals also donates all profits made through the transactions with the USP MasterCard to the USP Alex Foundation, a non-profit entity that groups together all of the company's social activity and focuses on protecting health and childhood, with special attention given to disabilities.
